Banco Sabadell Group would like to express its solidarity with the victims of the earthquake which occurred yesterday in Mexico. Fortunately, Banco Sabadell Mexico employees are safe, and we can also confirm that the Bank’s day to day activities will be resumed to restore a situation as close to normal as possible, without posing any risk whatsoever and with immediate effect.
On Tuesday 19 September the earthquake in Mexico affected highly urbanised areas during school and business hours. Banco Sabadell, together with WorldCoo, a start-up which forms part of BStartup10, has set up a platform which is available to its customers, employees and non-customers to support UNICEF in its clean-up efforts and rapid evaluation missions in Ciudad de México, Puebla and Morelos.

Objectives of the project
Attend to the needs of the children affected by the earthquake, providing them with water and access to sanitation facilities, nutrition, health, education and protection.
· Provide drinking water in the worst affected areas, build bathrooms/portable toilets and distribute basic hygiene supplies.
· Create child-friendly spaces, offer psychological and emotional support and ensure the prevention of violence and abuse.
· Support the back to school campaign: establish temporary learning spaces, distribute school materials, offer childhood development and teacher training.
With a donation of €10 UNICEF can provide drinking water to 534 children for a full day. Furthermore, there are 2,000 indirect beneficiaries, who benefit from the positive impacts of the actions carried out as part of the project.
